The hair, fiery red, and the sparkling  eyes captivate you immediately.  Tori Amos has an other-worldly energy, a kind of gravity-defying presence. Her silky voice reinforces the impression.

Her resolve, however, is steely. She has just released a new album called Gold Dust, a reworking of songs selected from the last 20 years, with lush orchestration reframing the melodies. Prior to that she released Night of Hunters, a song cycle that demonstrated her grasp of the classical form and her appreciation of Schubert and Schumann.

Up next–and this is where the resolve comes in–is The Light Princess, her first foray into musical theater.  She has worked on it for six years and is determined to get it right and not to release it until she has. All signs are that she is very close, with the production tentatively set to open in London next year.

An adventurous and fearless artist, Tori is our guest on Linked Music this weekend.  Listen in Saturday, October 20, at 9am (EST) to hear the show on SiriusXM Pops.  (The program will repeat on Sunday at 8pm and Monday at 11pm.)
